Your perspective as a merchant is essential. Respond to the official survey and guide investments that will make our commercial corridors thrive.
Harlem One Stop, a community-based nonprofit, is pleased to share that we have been awarded funding from NYC Small Business Services’ (SBS) Avenue NYC program for FY2026 to conduct a Commercial District Needs Assessment (CDNA) in Hamilton Heights–West Harlem. This project, undertaken in partnership with SBS, builds on our recent merchant organizing work and will help shape the future of our neighborhood’s commercial corridors.
The CDNA will assess economic and community needs, identify retail gaps, highlight neighborhood assets, and document built-environment conditions. The results will directly inform future commercial revitalization strategies—supported by SBS and in alignment with the priorities of those who live, work, and invest here.
In the past, significant changes in Hamilton Heights have sometimes moved forward without fully considering their impact on residents and businesses. This assessment is a chance to change that.
The assessment will focus on Amsterdam Avenue, West 145th Street, Broadway, Hamilton Place, and Saint Nicholas Avenue. Your feedback will directly contribute to recommendations that enhance these corridors—supporting business growth and helping to maintain and increase the long-term value of your business. This is an important opportunity for our collective voices to be heard as our community prepares for future changes.
