The synergy of the African American community in the Sugar Hill neighborhood during this era has impacted American culture in lasting ways. You may have noticed that various buildings in the neighborhood are marked by vibrant purple plaques highlighting the groundbreaking individuals who lived there, placed by the organization While We Are Still Here, to preserve African American history.
